The farmers market was on the MARC parking lot between Franklin and Mulberry. MARC trains don't run on weekends.

Yes, of course, the de-Interstate-ization of the "highway to nowhere" would need to be a separate project from the Red Line, prerequisite to the Red Line. The "highway to nowhere" was built under false pretenses with highway money so it needs to be unbuilt with highway money - not with Red Line money, which does not exist yet anyway and may never exist.

Where was this Farmers Market?
When was it and are they doing it again? I live on the west side (ish) and I'd love a market thats easier to get to.

That said, i think the transit plans are a great idea. I know the highway to nowhere issue is a big one, but I really don't see how they could resolve the issue with the highway, the plans to put lightrail (and some subway) across larger sections of the city are being paid for with both city funds and federal dollars, If the project included revisions to the highway, it wouldn't qualify for federal dollars and the project wouldn't have funding.

I' glad residents are getting a farmer's market but I agree with you about the community being sold a "bill of goods." The community is not stupid. Why does the city and the MTA continue to treat them as if they were benevolent dictators?

Any suggestions how to change this? Your dreams presented on BaltiMorphosis.com don't seem to be getting through to the administration.

The key point of the MTA Red Line plan is that it would PRESERVE the "highway to nowhere" which for decades has been instrumental in destroying life in the Franklin-Mulberry corridor. The MTA would build the Red Line in the highway median strip and thus force it to coexist with the disruptive highway which has severely hindered redevelopment. The MTA is selling the community a "bill of goods". The City and MTA refuse to redesign the highway itself to allow the community to grow in a healthy way, such as the concept presented in www.BaltiMorphosis.com .
