HI Mike, replying to your question, sheepishly....I had to leave before the performances happened so I didn't hear them. Did you like them? Which was best? Sonja Sohn supplied enough of a change-up for me. Her talk and performance, delivered by a trained actress with a great deep voice, were terrific, i thought.

Great story. At first I found myself wishing I had been there...but by the end I felt I had been there. Thanks for that.

Hi Fern,

Great, comprehensive review of the day. Tyler's talk was my favorite as well. One thing to point out: the people attending this event decided beforehand that they were going to have a good, awesome, enlightening time, and I think that's one main reason why it was so successful. All we had to do on the day of the event is provide a nice atmosphere for that to happen and avoid mistakes.

What did you think of the musicians? I thought they provided nice counterpoint to the speeches.

For the most part, I found the event lived up to its hype, despite the inevitable first-run technical glitches, and I look forward to the next one. A few of the speakers, particularly Sohn, could have used some coaching on how to deliver a presentation. Though her material was compelling, her delivery was rambling and needed a lot of polish, and I'm not a big fan of the heavily emoting slam-poetry she ended with.

Joel Salatin's talk was by far the best—rousing, personal, and powerful.
