Our Pope ‘O Trash thinks Dixon “probably did” it but ought to be able to stay mayor — and just maybe spend a couple of weekends in jail.

In a Q & A in the current Washington City Paper, the director discusses  newly-convicted Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon, teabagging, true love and the plot of his next movie, a holiday flick called Fruitcake, which features a Baltimore family of “meat thieves.”

Waters tells WCP that he actually likes Dixon, and was impressed that she “came to the premiere of The Wire the season they had a character loosely based on her who portrayed her very unfavorably.”

But gift cards? Giving them is essentially like giving money, he says and that’s “a rude gift.”

“It means you’re too stupid to think of anything,” he said, “or the person getting the gift is so dumb that they have no interests.”

I get the cultural importance John Waters has to our city, and he’s a creative person and interesting personality and all that, but seriously, who cares what John Waters thinks about anything besides movies or Hampden?

There, I said it. Whew. Did I just commit Baltimore treason?

Oh Eric! Lighten up. John Waters puts a smile on our face and so do you. John, I am sure approves of your disapproval and that’s what makes JW a Baltimore City Treasure. Baltimore rules in loving the unlovable. It is what creates our Charm City. Happy Holidays and looking forward to Fruitcake.

Haha, okay I guess we could have worse people representing us in pop culture – like Oprah.
