Photo essay: Gulf oil spill impact lingers

Since the April 20, 2010 Deepwater Horizon explosion fouled the Gulf of Mexico with an estimated 5 million gallons of oil, the media has moved on to other disasters, but Baltimore photographer Chris Council went there last month and found evidence that suggests the damage it caused will last for many years.

Council found oil in the sand,  tarballs, oil-damaged grasses and erosion and heard accounts of dozens of baby dolphins, since January, washing up dead on the shores of Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana.
