Here’s the full text of a statement emailed to affiliates from USW headquarters in Pittsburgh.

The statement, by Anthony C. “Tony” Montana, faults The Brew for reporting “inaccurate information,” but doesn’t cite any errors.

The Brew responded here to a previous statement by the USW criticizing our story on the union’s role in the RG Steel bankruptcy.

Montana’s statement primarily chides The Brew for stories he says “wrongly imply that the USW is to blame for the uncertain future of our facilities.”

The statement goes on to say that the union has made vigorous efforts on behalf of workers but “because potential buyers often insist on confidentiality” they sometimes “cannot disclose the details” of those efforts.
