Gaia mural pays tribute to the arabbers

The Baltimore-based street artist known as “Gaia” just sent us this heads-up about a new mural he recently completed in Sandtown “for the arabbers. ”
Gaia’s gone international, but here’s what he wrote about this art he’s made on Fremont Ave. and Laurens St. back here in town.
“This is a portrait of four generations, from [Donald] ‘Manboy’ [Savoy] the great grandfather to Fruit’s son. Their portraits were juxtaposed with the various illustrations on the boxes they pick up their produce in from all over the world via Jessup, MD.,” he wrote. “It was such a rewarding wall and feels good to paint at home.”
For more on the arabbers, here’s a link to a Baltimore City Paper piece on them. And here’s Gaia on Facebook.
