The FBI has been aware of the man behind today’s unsuccessful Catonsville bombing since at least September, according to detailed court documents uploaded to tbd.com .

The documents outline a sophisticated months-long undercover FBI operation and claim that Antonio Martinez, also known as Muhammad Hussain,”struck up an association” with an undercover FBI source who learned that Martinez planned to “attack and kill military personnel.”

Martinez was arrested today as a result of a sting operation that federal officials say uncovered his plan to bomb an Armed Forces recruiting station on Route 40 in Catonsville.

According to the criminal complaint, Martinez wrote publicly about jihad on his Facebook account.  On September 29th, he posted: “The sword is cummin the reign of oppression is about 2 cease inshallah ta’ala YA muslimeen! don’t execept the free world we are slaves of the Most High and never forget it!”

On October 1st, he posted: “Any 1 who opposes ALLAH and HIS Prophet PEACE.Be.upon.Him I hate u with all my heart.”

Martinez is being charged with attempted murder of federal officers/employees, and attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction against property owned, leased or used by the United States. He is facing life in prison.
