Cool view on a hot day

Baltimore looks downright idyllic from 300 feet up

Above: Baltimore seems like Big Sky Country from up on one of those cranes at The Rotunda.

Something about gazing out from atop one of those huge cranes at The Rotunda construction site just seemed to lower the mercury by a couple of notches for us on this broiling Baltimore day.

You’d hardly know from up there that – down below – residents, City Hall and business-owners are in a hot-debate over the parking impact of the new retail, offices and nearly 400 apartments planned for the shopping center.

(In particular, they’re debating the proposal by City Councilwoman Mary Pat Clarke to turn the blocks around the project into a Residential Permit Parking area, meaning only residents with permits purchased from the city could park there for longer than one hour. Here’s one view of that issue.)
