We brake for shocking lavender chin hair – especially when we encounter it not on Bourbon Street, some hipster scene or at the ballpark but in a supermarket parking lot in the bright light of a Friday afternoon.

That’s where we spotted Jim Uhrin today – aka @TrafficJamJimmy of WBFF-TV Fox45 – sporting this righteous Ravens-purple beard on the day before Baltimore’s big playoff game (they’re all big games at this point) with the New England Patriots.

We asked him the question du jour – “How are you feeling about the game tomorrow? – and he made a kind of meh face and said “Ummmmm. . . uhhhh.”

Oh, no! This is not the good omen. Not the response you want from this sort of supermarket parking lot fan avatar! Not Uhrin, who plays Santa Claus at Christmas for kids and charities. You want a little luck.

He saw my alarm and switched off to the correct hometown answer, even though Baltimore is not favored to win:

“Great, they’re looking great!”

Now that’s more like it.
