Fundraiser for Marilyn Mosby tonight

State’s Attorney’s campaign funds were depleted following her 2014 victory

Marilyn J. Mosby will hold her first fundraiser as Baltimore State’s Attorney at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum this evening.

The affair is aimed at replenishing her campaign coffers following her upset win last year against incumbent state’s attorney, Gregg L. Bernstein.

Mosby, 35, gained national attention last May when she indicted six Baltimore police officers in connection with the death of Freddie Gray that had sparked a day of riots and looting.

Mosby raised $300,192 during her 2014 campaign, according to Maryland Election Board records, but spent nearly all of it.

In her last financial report, released last January, Mosby reported a cash balance of $13,847, which included $11,406 that she personally loaned to her campaign committee, Friends of Marilyn Mosby.

Tonight’s fundraiser, orchestrated by political consultant Colleen Martin-Lauer, has ticket prices of $250 (“guest”), $500 (“sponsor”) and $1,000 (“host”).

The fundraiser comes amid intense speculation that her husband, City Councilman Nick Mosby, will thrown his hat into the 2016 mayoral race now that Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake has announced she will not run for reelection.
