Thanks for the memories, Haussner’s

Gilt-framed oils depicting voluptuous nudes . . . monumental slabs of strawberry pie . . . an 825-pound ball of string.
The building that housed all the odd, iconic features that made Haussner’s restaurant in Highlandtown a landmark came down today.
The hulking structure, vacant for years but full of memories for many of a certain age, was demolished to make way for a new 65-unit apartment building.
Reader Kevin Clarke sent us a photo of the workers today taking down the building in the 3200 block of Eastern Avenue.
