Baltimore City Council to relax rules on double-parking

Parking enforcement agents would have to give residents a 15-minute warning before ticketing them for double parking, under a bill up for a vote today by a committee of the Baltimore City Council today, Investigative Voice reports.

The legislation, introduced by councilmen James B. Kraft and William H. Cole IV, grew out of complaints that residents were being slapped with big tickets for briefly double-parking in front of their homes to unload groceries or get children or elderly passengers inside.

The bill, up for consideration by the Judicial and Legislative Investigations Committee,  would also reduce double parking fines from $250 to $100, Investigative Voice reports.
