Baltimore City police said this afternoon that a third suspect has been arrested in connection with the slaying of Arnesha Bowers, who was found dead on June 7 in her grandmother’s burning home in Northeast Baltimore.

The popular 16-year-old City College junior had been restrained, sexually assaulted and strangled with an electric cord before the house was set on fire, according to police.

Police said 14-year-old Raeshawn Rivers has been arrested in connection with Bowers’ death. He is being charged as an adult. No further details were immediately available.

After firefighters put out the fire on the 6100 block of Eastern Parkway, investigators found Bowers’ body in the basement. She died of asphyxiation from the electric chord, police said.

Police had arrested Adonay Dixon, 23, and John Childs, 23, in connection with the homicide. They said the men encountered Bowers during a party and followed her home before plotting a burglary.

They broke through a basement window, but were soon discovered by Bowers. Childs told police that while he ransacked the house for money, Dixon dragged the girl into the basement and sexually assaulted her.

Childs had been released from jail in Baltimore County on a burglary charge just five days before Bowers was killed. The two suspects said they were members of a Blood gang.
