A man was fatally injured today at the Quarantine Road landfill in South Baltimore, according to police, who said the victim was crushed between his vehicle and another vehicle.

The man, an adult male whom police are not identifying, “was outside his vehicle doing work” at the time of the accident, according to Baltimore Police Department spokesman Jarron Jackson.

Jackson said police received a call at about 3:10 p.m. to respond to the Baltimore City Department of Public Works Sanitation Yard at the 6100 block of Quarantine Road.

The incident occurred in the part of the landfill accessible to the public for dumping. Police are investigating the incident not as a homicide but as a “sudden death,” Jackson said.

Jackson said the man was not at the landfill as a city employee and was not driving a city truck.

He said the Maryland Occupational Safety and Health Administration was headed to the scene.
