No water in parts of Canton next week

Repairs needed on water main, about 450 properties impacted

Above: Taps will be temporarily dry for some residents in southeast Baltimore.

Emergency repairs to a 20-inch main will result in temporary water shutoffs to about 450 houses in the Canton area on either Monday or Wednesday.

Service will be interrupted at 165 houses on Monday starting at 8 a.m. and ending about 4 p.m.

The affected properties will be on Montford between Foster and Fait, Fait between Montford and Lakewood, Glover between Foster and Hudson, and Port between Fait and Hudson, according to the Department of Public Works.

On Wednesday night, starting at 9 p.m., water will be turned off for another 293 users until about 5 a.m.

Properties going dry: along Chester between Eastern and Bank,  Eastern between Washington and Montford, Montford between Eastern and Foster, Foster between Luzerne and Essex, and the 2200 and 2300 blocks of Essex.

Once service is restored, DPW recommends that residents let water run for about five to 10 minutes until it is clear.

Aerators should be removed on faucets beforehand to prevent blockage from sediment.
